New Year, Same Struggle: Your January Newsletter

It’s a new year, but the struggle continues – and the action might be hottest in the local labor movement, where workers in Eugene and around Oregon continue to organize for better conditions and pay.

Members are showing up to support efforts on the line at Bigfoot Beverages, where workers continue striking to save their pensions and protect their union. Chapter members have also been highly effective at getting the word out – placing fliers, handing out literature, hanging posters, and posting online – and those efforts continue.

And, Eugene DSA is there with striking health care workers at Providence Medford Medical Center, who have joined seven other hospitals around the state to fight back against Providence’s stalling over issues of patient care and worker safety. Members recently visited the ONA strike line in Medford, spending the afternoon on the line with workers.

Together, we can organize, but we’ll need all of us. There’s plenty of ways to show solidarity: from your couch or out and about, doing work both big and small – we need it all! Can’t spare an entire afternoon, but you’ve got 20 minutes here and there to pitch in? There’s a place for you! Here are some concrete ways to support:
